Your options from the airport
You have three main choices: the official airport taxi counter, a ride-hailing app, or a pre-booked private transfer. Airport taxis are metered but often more expensive and can involve a wait. Ride-hailing apps (like Grab or Gojek) are cheaper but pickup from the terminal can be restricted and confusing for first-timers. A pre-booked private transfer is the easiest: a driver waits for you at arrivals with a name board, helps with your luggage, and the price is fixed in advance — no meter, no surprises.
Typical transfer fares by area
Fares in Bali are charged per car, not per person, and depend on how far your hotel is from the airport. As a guide, here's what a private transfer typically costs one way:
Nusa Dua, Jimbaran and Kuta are the closest, from around USD 20. Seminyak, Sanur, Canggu and Denpasar are a little further, from around USD 25. Ubud and Tanah Lot, up in the hills and countryside, are around USD 30. Candi Dasa and the far east cost more, around USD 45. Return trips are discounted compared with booking two one-way transfers. What's included in the fare
A good private transfer fare includes the car, an English-speaking driver, fuel and all parking or toll fees. Each standard car seats up to four people with luggage; larger groups can request a bigger vehicle. There's nothing extra to pay unless you're arriving very late at night.
Late-night arrivals
Many flights into Bali land after midnight. Transfers still run 24 hours, but a modest late-night surcharge usually applies for pickups after around 11:00 pm (on our service it's a fixed Rp 450,000 per car). It's worth confirming this when you book so there are no surprises when you're tired and jet-lagged.
Tips for a smooth arrival
Send your flight number and arrival time when you book, so your driver can track your flight and be there even if you're delayed. Have your hotel name and address handy. Keep some small cash in rupiah for tips or snacks. And after immigration and baggage claim, look for your name board just outside the arrivals doors — your driver will be waiting.
